The rhyme deserve some amount of respect, but the meter is all wrong and I can’t dance to it. The syllables are right, but the stresses are uneven.
But, in fairness, we probably are on the eve of distruction, so we’ll cut him some slack.

Yeah, on the Eve of Destruction you probably aren’t too concerned with meter. Although, this song is from like 40 years ago and we’re still hanging in there, so maybe we’re not quite on the brink yet.
